\r\n \r\n QURAN \r\n \r\n |
Translation:
\r\n"The \r\n earth shall be inherited by My righteous servants. "
\r\n[Al-Quran- \r\n Sura Al-Anbiya 21: 105]
\r\nTafseer:
\r\n This verse has been seriously \r\n misinterpreted by some people; this has led to a view that \r\n strikes at the very root of Quranic teachings and negates \r\n the whole world-view of Islam.
\r\n The misconception:
\r\n - This verse guarantees \r\n the inheritance of the earth (i.e. governance of and control \r\n over the resources of the earth) only to the righteous; \r\n that God will bestow this bounty on them alone.
\r\n Conclusion based on the misconception: \r\n
\r\n - The enjoyment of political \r\n power is the criterion of righteousness; that those who \r\n enjoy it are righteous; whilst those who do not have it \r\n are unrighteous.
\r\n Reason for the misconception: \r\n
\r\n - This is because of \r\n some Muslims' obsession with material progress, a progress \r\n which has caused them to lose their poise and allowed them \r\n to without hesitation, distort the teachings of Quran. \r\n
\r\n The proper meaning:
\r\n - Taking into consideration \r\n the whole of the Quran and the context the verse was revealed \r\n in, it means that in the World to Come, the inheritors of \r\n the earth will be righteous.
\r\n - In accordance with \r\n God's will, the temporary inheritance of the land is conferred \r\n on believers and as well as unbelievers, and both the sinners \r\n and the righteous share it. Being a trial, conducted in \r\n accordance with God's law, it is served on different communities \r\n in turn.

\r\n \r\n \r\n Signs \r\n Before the Hour- What have we prepared for it? \r\n \r\n |
> \r\n Other Major Signs<
\r\n The Ulama \r\n (scholars of Islam) differ concerning the order in \r\n which the other greater signs of the Hour (i.e. signs other \r\n than appearance of Dajjal, Prophet Jesus, Imam \r\n Mahdi, Yajuj and Majuj) will come about. \r\n They are:
\r\n - \r\n
- \r\n The \r\n destruction of the Kabah (in Holy Masjid in \r\n Makkah) and the recovery of its treasure\r\n
- \r\n The \r\n rising of the sun from West\r\n
- \r\n The \r\n emergence pf the Beast from the Earth\r\n
- \r\n The \r\n Smoke\r\n
- \r\n A wind \r\n will take away the souls of the believers\r\n
- \r\n The \r\n Quran will be taken up into the heaven\r\n
- \r\n A fire \r\n will drive the people to their last gathering place \r\n\r\n
- \r\n The \r\n Trumpet will be blown: at the first sound everyone will \r\n feel terror; at the second sound or blowing, all people \r\n and creation will be struck down; at the last sound \r\n all will be resurrected (for final judgment in front \r\n of Allah)\r\n \r\n

SIX \r\n DAYS OF SHAWWAL- Another Opportunity! \r\n
\r\n \r\n
\r\n Abu \r\n Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: \r\n Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: "He who \r\n fasts Ramadan, and six (days) of Shawwal, it will be (equivalent \r\n to) as if he fasted a whole year (in terms of rewards)." \r\n \r\n \r\n
\r\n (Reported \r\n by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood, \r\n Ahmad, Ibn Majah)
\r\n
\r\n Explanation: \r\n In commenting on the above mentioned Hadith, As-Sananee \r\n said in Subul us-Salam: "If the thirty \r\n days of Ramadan fasting are assimilated with the six days \r\n of fasting in Shawwal, it altogether makes 36 days. According \r\n to Shariah (Islamic law), each virtue is rewarded ten \r\n times. Therefore, if we multiply 36 days with 10, it makes \r\n 360, a number which equals the days of a year of Islamic \r\n calendar. Some scholars are of the opinion that these \r\n six days of fasting in Shawwal must be completed in a \r\n continuous order right after the end of Ramadan. Some \r\n believe that it is enough to merely complete six days \r\n of fasting in Shawwal (in any order, either successive \r\n or with intervals), an opinion which is deemed to be correct." \r\n

\r\n \r\n Reflections \r\n on Tazkiya and Self-Development \r\n \r\n |
What \r\n is TAZKIYA and our Ultimate Goal? \r\n
\r\n \r\n
\r\n The \r\n path to God is only illuminated when a person recognizes \r\n the central place of God, Allah, in his or her own life \r\n and strives hard to develop his or her self accordingly. \r\n The Messenger of Allah, (peace be upon him) said, "If \r\n someone wants to know what position he enjoys in the sight \r\n of God, he has to only look at what place he gives \r\n to God (in his heart and life)," (Hakim). \r\n
\r\n \r\n
\r\n The \r\n term nearest to "Self-Development" in the Quranic \r\n vocabulary is TAZKIYA. Tazkiya means purification \r\n and refers to: (1) the cleansing of the human self from \r\n all that is unwholesome, undesirable, and unwelcome; (2) \r\n it also refers to the nurturing and strengthening of all \r\n the qualities within human self that are essential for growth \r\n and development, for blossoming and flowering. \r\n
\r\n \r\n
\r\n The \r\n Goal in Life:
\r\n \r\n
\r\n Success \r\n and happiness in this world and the Hereafter depend on \r\n Tazkiya- i.e. the purification and nurturing of our personality. \r\n The Quran states that the true success is only reserved \r\n for those who seek to purify themselves: "Successful \r\n indeed is the one who purifies his self," (Sura \r\n Ash-Shams 91:9). Our personality comprises not only \r\n the physical body but also the mind and the heart, feelings \r\n and attitudes, character and behavior. Proper nurturing \r\n and development of these elements will produce desirable \r\n goals. When goals are desirable, the process of aspiring \r\n to and working towards them also become desirable. This \r\n is part of the human nature. It is critical, therefore, \r\n that we recognize and understand the true nature of our \r\n ultimate goal in life.
\r\n \r\n
\r\n For \r\n the Believer, the most coveted goal in life is to seek the \r\n good pleasure of Allah and Janna (Paradise). Know, \r\n however, that attaining the pleasure of Allah takes precedence \r\n over seeking Janna but the two are closely connected. \r\n Paradise can only be attained through seeking Allah's pleasure, \r\n and when Allah's pleasure is gained, we will indeed be granted \r\n Paradise. As Allah says in the Quran: "Indeed Allah \r\n has purchased from the Believers their lives and their possessions, \r\n promising them Paradise, in return," (Sura Al-Tawba \r\n 9:111).
\r\n The \r\n alternate to attaining Paradise in the Hereafter is to be \r\n placed in Jahannam (Hellfire) and to receive punishments. \r\n What is it that makes a person deserving of such a suffering? \r\n The answer is to be found in Sura Al-Hadid (57:20): \r\n "...for life of this world is nothing but enjoyment \r\n of self-delusion." Hellfire, therefore, is for those \r\n who seek as their ultimate goal in life, not the pleasure \r\n of Allah or Paradise, but the enjoyment of worldly gains. \r\n The pursuit of worldly gain is but a mirage. All worldly \r\n gains are left behind when you die. All that remains on \r\n earth is bound to perish, while Allah and His good pleasure \r\n will remain for ever!
